The Gibson Health Hub has deep historical ties to the local community. Formerly a hospital, many residents recall their children born or urgent care needs treated at this facility. After years of undergoing changes in ownership, the City of Albuquerque acquired it in 2021.
As part of the city's larger "One Albuquerque" initiative, the goal is to restore the facility to its former glory by creating a resource hub for people experiencing homelessness or suffering from addiction. Revamped services will now include addiction and psychiatric treatment as well as a women's shelter, a medical respite center, a sobering center, and even resources designed to assist people find permanent housing and connect them to job opportunities.
