Beat the Heat: Summer Painting Tips
The summer heat has set in, and you may have noticed paint doesn’t perform like you have hoped. Check out these five tips to make the most of painting during the summer.
1) Store paint in a cool place: Paint should not be stored in heat greater than 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Keeping paint in a cool, dry place will maintain proper consistency.
2) Paint early in the morning or in the evening: Shifting your schedule can make a paint job turn out much better. Avoid extreme heat and direct sunlight by painting before 11 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
3) Avoid direct sunlight: Make sure the surfaces you are painting do not get too hot by painting in the shade. This will improve the drying process and overall quality of the paint job.
4) Always start with a well-prepared surface: Make sure your paint job will last by starting with a clean slate. Remove any debris and start with a dry surface to ensure long-lasting adhesion.
5) Paint on days with minimal wind: Avoid dust and debris blowing onto wet paint by working on calmer days.
Your work doesn’t have to stop when the hot weather is in the forecast. Follow these steps and you can make the most out of your summer jobs.
